Our Evolution

This journey started with a tiny, itchy patch of eczema on my ankle.
At first, I thought, “No big deal.” My skin had never really been too problematic, typical, in fact--higfh school acne, the occasional break out, but nothing serious.  Initially, I even thought it was ringworm and tried to cure it with the usual over-the-counter creams.  But within a year, that little patch grew to cover my entire ankle and some of my leg.

I tried everything – doctors, creams, prescriptions. Nothing worked. This monster continued to grow, and it began to eat away at my self-esteem.  I stopped wearing sandals first.  Then shorts. I took no full body shots--and I had been a selfie queen.  I even stopped dating.

One day, I looked at my soap and thought, “Could this be the problem?”  I started with the ingredients.
What I found was that most soaps--not just the one I was using-- aren't full of Shea and Cocoa Butter, as they advertise, but filler oils and chemical binders.  So, I decided to make my own. My first attempt--courtesy of YouTube University--didn’t help me at all (neither did attempts 2-10), so I began giving the soap away to friends and family. Funny enough, it worked wonders for them.  They felt the difference on their skin, and soon, they started asking to buy it.

That’s how my first small business, Little Brown Girls Soap Co., was born.

Over the next two years, I dove deeper into the world of herbs, searching for relief for my stubborn eczema. Finally, I stumbled upon a group for Ayurveda – the ancient Indian science of life – and everything changed. I learned about the power of nature and its herbs used for centuries to soothe and balance the skin. Through this study, I perfected my Neem & Nettle Eczema Soap, and for the first time, my skin felt calm, nourished, and that patch released its hold on my life.

With this newfound knowledge, Little Brown Girls Soap Co. evolved into Sun+Sage Ayurvedic SkinFood. This brand is my way of honoring and thanking the earth and sun for their healing power and for the wisdom of Ayurveda – its my reminder that the earth holds everything we need for balance, radiance, and resilience for both inside and outside.

At Sun + Sage, the goal is to constantly create Skin Food--not just products, but nourishment-- rooted in nature’s timeless remedies. My hope is that each product feels like a small ritual – a way to reconnect with yourself, the sun, and the earth every single day.

Thank you for being here, for trusting me to be a part of your skin’s journey back to balance.

🌿✨ Welcome to the NEW Sun+Sage, Where earth and sun meet skin.
